Jannis Varelas was born in 1977 in Athens, Greece. Varelas received a BFA from the Athens School of Fine Arts, Athens, Greece and a MFA from the Royal College of Art, London, United Kingdom.
His work has been featured in multiple solo and group exhibitions, including “Paper – works from the Saatchi Collection” at Saatchi Gallery in London, United Kingdom (2013); “Hell As Pavilion” at Palais de Tokyo in Paris, France (2013); “Sleep My Little Sheep Sleep” curated by Xenia Kalpaktsoglou at the Contemporary Arts Center of Cincinnati, Ohio (2012); “The Oblong Box” at Kunsthalle Athena in Athens, Greece (2011); and “Brandybell Series” at the Autocenter in Berlin, Germany (2010). Varelas currently splits his time between Athens, Greece; Vienna, Austria and Los Angeles, California.
