Who do you admire the most and why

Probably my 90-year-old grandma, Dee-Dee. She’s been in quarantine since March. She’s a piano teacher and teaches students over the phone by ear and plays the Moonlight Sonata to the moon every time it’s full. Last time we spoke she fully quoted (from memory) a Wendell Berry poem to me,

“I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethoughts of grief.

I come into the presence of still water…
And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.”
